HYCCT1531A - Stop and Smell the Roses

Challenge:  Include Roses on your card

My roses are in this beautiful DSP.   I don't recall all the details for this card as I made it during a make and take.

HYCCT1531B - ORANGE you glad?

HYCCT1531C - Finish Line

Ink:  Melon Mambo

2015 Hope You Can Cling To #30

HYCCT1530 - Tough as Nails

Challenge:  You may use any construction related materials to make or embellish your card. It could be drywall spackle, mesh joint tape, aluminum pipe tape, sandpaper, etc....you get the idea. Another take would be to use construction related stamps, but brownie points with me if you come up with something really outside the box.

I used spackling and drywall tape.  Then inked the card and used tape to adhere the drywall tape to the background.  I added washi tape for good measure.

Stamps:  Million & One
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Tangerine Twist and StazOn

  • You must choose a technique from our tutorials section here on Splitcoast

HYCCT1529 - Thank Pink

Challenge:  Create a Thank You card using PINKS as your color!

Here is my pink thank you card.   Well, the pink is in the pink family... Strawberry Slush.  I think that counts!  And I added a few other colors!

Stamps:  SU Bloom with Hope and Work of Art
Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, StazOn

HYCCT1528 - Rainbows - The Promise of a Better Tomorrow

Challenge:  Make a card with a rainbow, or use a rainbow of color (think ROY G BIV), the rainbow can be made with ink, paper, ribbon, rhinestones, etc.

For my card I was going to use washi tape, but I didn't have all the colors.  So I decided to use the SU Work Of Art stamp set instead.

Stamp:  SU Work of Art
Ink:  StazOn, Real Red, Tangerine Twist, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue, Concord Crush

2015 Hope You Can Cling To #27

HYCCT1527 - Strength in Numbers

Challenge:  Help you sisters who are battle the BIG C by making a card for them that helps spread the message of "we're all here for you" "together we will beat this" by using a MASKING TECHNIQUE to bring a group of people (or animals) together as the MAIN feature of your card.

I had a few stamp sets I could have used for this challenge.  The sentiment on the Owls was perfect!  I added the ribbon at the last minute.  I was trying to make a cute bow, but that didn't work out well.  So, instead I made a ribbon symbol using the black ribbon.  Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have used a pink ribbon.  Oh well, looks cute with the black.

Other:  Flowers (yellow) and Swirls (black)

HYCCT1527 - HERO - You are My Superhero

Challenge:  make a card with a superhero theme. Use a superhero image...or a WHAM! or POW! or ZAP! or SHAZAM!

I have absolutely no superhero stamps.  Back to the googling I go.  I found a couple of super hero logos that I could use.  I copied them over and printed on paper.  I wasn't sure of I wanted to incorporate my findings.  Some times its good to let things sit as ideas may come to you.  It certainly did for this one.  I remembered I had a t-shirt stamps set and die.  I was able to use the die for my card.  Not too bad!

Stamps:  The Stamps of Life
Embossing Folder:  Star

HYCCT1527 - KIDS - Mom's Faves

Challenge:  Kids, your challenge is to make a card representing something your mom loves. A favorite food, a favorite pet or animal, even a favorite color. You can even make a card representing how you feel about your mom.

My mom loves to shop.  I was going to use a different stamps set, but I used it for another test.   So here we go ...

Stamps:  Bootiful Occasions
Ink:  Brilliant Blue marker
More:  Silver glitter, glue pen

HYCCT1527 - BONUS - Create a Cure!

Challenge:  create a stunning background for your card using the salting technique with watercolors or ink.

I used Tim Holtz distress ink (barn door) and the wrinkle free distress technigue.  I do not have re-inkers  or watercolor paper so had to come up with a different method and used regular cardstock.   I also used regular table salt to "cure".  It wasn't as prominent as I had hoped it would be.

2015 Hope You Can Cling To #26

HYCCT1526 - I Believe In Prayers, Love and Fairy Dust

Challenge:
Make a card with a SPUNKY little FAIRY on it!!!! Let's go SPUNK Cancer!!!!

I do not have any fairy stamps so I did the next best thing .. GOOGLE.   I googled Spunky fairy and a few cute spunky images appeared.   I decided to use this adorable fairy.

Since the image had purple, pink and blue, I decided to sponge those colors to make a background.  I also used some swirls for the background as well.  I punched out the circle using my SU 2 1/2" circle punch.  I used Scallop die to cut the Melon Mambo cardstock.  I embossed the scallop circle using the Swirls embossing folder.

Stamps: The Stamps of Life - swirls2build

2015 Hope You Can Cling To #25

HYCCT1525 - Stay Centered

Make a card by only using the center for your image, sentiment etc.

The sentiment and image are centered on the card.  I used some cute pastel colored dsp.  I stamped the chick on dsp and cut out.
